Us and Them

   Us ;

The Royal Mail has introduced stamps that are tamper-proof to stop them being reused. The stamps have two strips, one either side of the Queen’s head, which are left on the envelope when the stamp is peeled away.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “Our standard stamps are being produced as self-adhesive stamps with new security features including  the two adjacent die cut slits which are designed to inhibit the removal of used stamps from the mail for fraudulent use.
........Mere Pence !

   Them ;

Twelve MPs forced to quit over the expenses scandal will pocket an extra £1.2million of taxpayers' money because they refuse to go now.
By staying until an election they will qualify for 'parachute' payments of up to £129,532, depending on length of service.
On top of all that, they will qualify for a £42,068 'winding-up' allowance payable to MPs who quit at any time. This will cost taxpayers another half a million.
The 'dirty dozen' can also look forward to gold-plated pensions.
.......  Mere Millions !

Kipper isn't really hard-up...He's just recycling !!

And to finish with a bit on Parcel Post.......

             A baby and a box of pills,
                A puppy and a rat,
              A Roly Poly pudding
              And an old Tom cat.
           A pound of tallow candles
       And a round of buttered toast,
        All came for me this morning
                By the Parcel Post !

  1. yes, referring to the MP's, there not daft are they?
    The only good thing to come out of this is that something will have to be done about the MP's expenses. It will have to be changed now.

  2. Very true, Ann, something will have to be done.
    I don't know if you read in the news this week...that Tesco are refusing to sell Plastic Cutlery to anyone under the age of 18 !!!!!
    Would ASDA ask me for proof of age?
    Could you keep a straight face when asking someone their age for buying plastic spoons?
    It's a crazy old world is it not?
    Cheers......Bernard

  3. I was pleased to hear an item on the radio where lots of people were managing to peel off and re-use the entire "tamper-proof" stamp with no problem at all. If the entire population of the country did it then we might save nearly the equivalent of an MP's expenses claim. Really enjoying your blog!

  4. Glad you can re-use the tamper proof stamps. I am somebody who steams off stamps that haven't been franked.
    I recently parked in a car park where you had to put your reg. number in the ticket machine. I assume this is a measure to stop people kindly handing tickets to other people when they haven't used up all the available time on it. Honestly.....!...

  5. Hi Daphne, I do the same...those stamps in the picture are all un-franked for 'recycling'!
    The car parking thing is REAL mean.
    If you buy an hour it shouldn't matter who's using it. The council still get their money.
