"Gordon Brown has been named the worst-dressed man of the year by the British edition of men's magazine, GQ. The prime minister topped the rankings for being "anything but a prime example of British style," the magazine said."
Need I say more?

This music dates back to 1897. It was sung by George Robey who was born in 1869 and had started a career in music hall in Oxford in 1891.
During the First World War he toured army units at the front and made many fund raising concerts. In 1916 he was cast in the revue 'The Bing Boys Are Here' and during one sketch, he sang the song that was to become world famous - 'If you were the only girl in the world'.
In 1954 he received a knighthood but sadly he died nine months later.
Just one of the five verses then, it's a long song.
"I'm very fond of pastry, er, you know the sort I mean,
The puffy, not the duffy kind - with jam stuck in between.
One evening feeling peckish to that stupid chap I said,
"Go forth and fetch some pastry", but the silly josser made -
Slight mistake - Slight mistake -
He's barmy on the ladies of the ballet,
I wanted tarts,
He made me swear,
He brought some girls with auburn hair!
Slight mistake on the part of my valet."
A slight mistake here by the look of it.

Something's missing.....I just can't 'put my finger on it'!

Poor Gordon! He looks no worse a dresser than his colleagues and seems to me to wear exactly the standard smart politician clothes you would expect!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid he will suffer more as the election nears, the media will see to that.
ReplyDeleteHmmm word verification is MANTRA!
Either that, or the poor girl met with a gust of wind as she left the house. I hope membership of your fan club is still open Uncle B, as I am introducing you to my freinds tomorrow. Stand by for a rush of adoption applications :D
ReplyDeleteWell sir B...i think she just forgot to put something on down there by the looks of her....and as for Gordon Brown...he IS the worst man...dressed too...if i was in the position where he is now..i would dress-up a bit to improve my image if i could.....take as an example Tim Wannacot (TV presenter)...or you sent in a picture of yourself ( if that is you in the picture in your profile)...he would stand out then in a positive way...dressed that is...
ReplyDeletegreetings Francien.
Gordon Brown is a staid, boring dresser. I think a double-breasted jacket and a change of hairstyle would make a big difference to his image - and, of course, a slimmer waistline.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can see missing from the in the photos of the girls is made-up & darkened eyebrows?! xx
I think that bottom photo needs cropping around at around the waistline of the girl in yellow. I think that might improve it ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think if Gordon Brown dressed like the girl in the picture, he'd get a lot of attention.
ReplyDeleteAh wardrobe malfunction, it can happen to the best of us.
ReplyDeleteAs for Gordon Brown I don't know the man, usually only see his face on the news.Bad dresser is he?He perhaps need to take a leaf out of our former PM's book, the Armani suited Paul Keating, now there's a man with style.
Suspect our Bernard could give him a few tips too.
I agree, Gordon would do well to take a some wardrobe advice from our dashing Uncle!
ReplyDeleteFoody;
ReplyDeleteHis suit always looks as if he left it screwed up on a chair overnight. Daniel Hannan (Telegraph blog)always looks the smartest to me.
Val;
Yes, the press/photographers follow his every looking for fault.
Kath;
I think I read somewhere that it's the new fashion look for 2010! In the summer I assume.
Francien;
Kath thinks that little picture is of me. I have put a link in a comment on her latest post to the 'real' me. Not a pretty sight.
Mrs S;
I think Gordon is beyond help.
I agree with you about the need for make-up. The girls not Gordon!
Cherie;
You won't be going along with this latest fashion then? LOL
Jan;
If Gordon dressed like the girl in the picture, we'd have to send for the men in white coats!
Actually there are blogs that 'doctor' pictures of him in various states of attire.
Greeting Von, Welcome.
Gordon is an untidy dresser. He never looks smart. I susspect he gets his suits from Oxfam!
I'm afraid I can give no tips.
I'm 100% casual.
Kath;
See todays post!
I will always think of you as that dapper English gentleman, the sort of Uncle a girl would love to have!
ReplyDeleteThank you. And thank you for all this publicity.
