Nanny Strikes Again

Nanny State's photo police have been up to their old tricks again, ever fearful that an innocent photo of a child may in fact be for nefarious purposes.

Sheila Campbell, the 85 year old mother of Nicky Campbell (a TV personality), found this to her cost recently when she went with her 4 granddaughters (aged between 5 and 10) to the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh.

Mrs Campbell was happily about to take a photo of them when, crash, bang, wallop, one of the pool attendants popped up from nowhere and forbade her from taking a picture.
There were no other children nearby, therefore it was clear that she was taking a picture of her own grandchildren.

This has now all become stupid beyond words.......I shall therefore give up on words and resort to pictures....yes, pictures of children in a swimming pool.

And....yes, that is a picture taken by my mother, of my father and I at the Lido in Bournville.
.
.
My father pictured there had just returned from the War, when we fought for freedom from this sort of harassment.

Were the attendant to seriously believe that Mrs Campbell was taking a photo for evil purposes then surely he should have reported her to the police, and had her camera searched for evil pictures.
Nicky Campbell said:

"I am sorry.... I don't think my mother looks like a paedophile or a terrorist."

And so here is another picture from the good old days.
How about that woolly costume? I bet my mother knitted it.
.
.
And I'll throw in another.....just to spite the Nanny State.
'Little me' with two 'big girl friends' in Bournville Park....so there!!
.
.
Perhaps we should all show pictures of ourselves as children just to make Nanny look stupid?

  1. It is stupid isn't it? We can't take or show pictures of kids anymore the kids themselves get up to much worse things than we did... And that seems the acceptable norm for today!

  2. This is only one area where an incredibly small number of offenders cause the gov to over-react and ruin life for the rest of us. Did you know that 99.9875% of the population do not cause any trouble with their responsible drinking habits, but the Conservative shadow Home Office minister is planning new curbs and bans on alcohol use.
That is 7,341 out of a population of 80,000,000, or a national panic inducing level of 0.0125%. That's just over one tenth of one percent.
